About

Thanks for stopping by. Read below to learn more about myself and my background.

Background

I'm Tharindu, originally from Sri Lanka, and I currently live in Kaiserslautern, Germany. I'm a Master's student at RPTU, and most of my time is spent between university, hardware projects, and trying to figure out how to make the things I build actually work. I've always been interested in electronics and computers, and I enjoy understanding how things work rather than just using them.

Education

I'm currently studying Embedded Computing Systems at RPTU Kaiserslautern. Before coming to Germany, I studied Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering at the University of Moratuwa in Sri Lanka. During my studies, I became especially interested in digital systems and computer architecture, and that eventually led me towards FPGA design, processor design, and hardware development.

Profession

I have worked in the electronics and hardware field for several years. I started my professional career as an Electronics Engineer at Paraqum Technologies and later worked as a Verification Engineer with SiFive. Most of my work has been around digital design, verification, embedded systems, and computer architecture. These days, I'm spending more time designing hardware myself and learning more about FPGA and ASIC development.

Hobbies

Outside university and work, I like doing things that keep me away from a desk. Calistanics is my most favourite hobby. I also enjoy mountain biking, downhill riding, cycling, hiking, and bouldering. I also like travelling and exploring new places whenever I get the chance. I've always been a bit curious about how things work too. I am also a guitarist. We friends in RPTU made our own music band "Mit Karte Bitte". When I was a kid, I used to take apart toys, motors, batteries, and pretty much anything electronic just to see what was inside. I guess not much has changed since then.

Let's talk.
